Mary Simonetti (nee Marinelli) 97, of Brunswick Hills, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home on the 6th of February 2023 surrounded by her family. Loving wife of John L. Simonetti (deceased), beloved husband of 70 years.
Devoted mother of Larry (Jeanne), John (Gail), Carole (Tom) Banyas, and Lon (Lynn). Cherished grandmother of Mary (Rich) Rhodes, Angela, Jeanne (Matt) Stevenson, Andy (Carolyn) Banyas, Hannah, Veronica, Nat, and John. Treasured Nonni to Kennedy, Reghan, Nidea, Desmond, Victor, Lucy and Henry. Dear sister-in-law of Ronald Simonetti and Phyllis Marinelli; Aunt and friend to many.
Preceded in death by father Giuseppe Antonio Marinelli, mother Nidea (nee Bruno), brothers Joseph and Gaetano and sister-in-law Jackie Simonetti.
Graduate of St. Rocco Elementary and St. Procop High School ’43 and bookkeeper at Arthur G. McKee & Co., Mary was a gifted seamstress and artisan. She made numerous bridal and first communion veils, home decor, wedding gowns, as well as altar cloths and liturgical banners for Holy Martyrs Church. In addition to her extraordinary skills as a seamstress, she cherished her time with friends spinning, dyeing and weaving, quilting, and knitting. Mary was an avid gardener who loved flowers and often created her own dried flower arrangements and greeting cards with pressed flowers. She loved sharing her skills with friends and family and donating her talents to many local church and community organizations.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Haven of Lakewood, Cypress Hospice and Daughters with Degrees for their kind and loving care of Mary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mary to a favorite charity. Some of Mary’s favorites include Parma Symphony Orchestra, St. Augustine Hunger Center, and the American Heart Association.
The family will receive friends at Waite & Son funeral home, 3300 Center Rd, Brunswick on Wednesday, February 15 from 4 to 8 P.M. Calling hours at 9:15 A.M. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Holy Martyrs Church, 3100 Weymouth Rd, Medina OH, 44256. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, OH at 1:30 P.M.
