SHC/THE ARC OF MEDINA COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE

- H.O.P.E. and Dunham Scholarships provide $3,000 to area students –

Jan. 03, 2017, Seville, Ohio – SHC/The Arc of Medina County invites college students to apply for local scholarships.

H.O.P.E. Scholarship

SHC members, or an unmarried child or grandchild of a member who is working toward a degree in a disability-related field can apply for the H.O.P.E Scholarship. The scholarship committee awards up to two scholarships each year through the SHC Endowment Fund. The scholarships for 2017 will be in the amount of $1,000 each. This is a one year, non-renewable scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a disability-related field.

Sharon and Kristine Dunham Scholarship

Non-traditional students who are seeking a degree in any area of study may apply for the Sharon and Kristine Dunham Scholarship. The Dunham siblings established the scholarship in 2014 to honor the memory of their sisters. The scholarship committee awards one, $1,000 scholarship each year. This is a one year, non-renewable scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and meet the application criteria for a non-traditional student. Ideally the applicant has connections to SHC either through work, family or community involvement.

Applications and Deadlines

The scholarships are awarded at the SHC Annual Meeting in May. Interested applicants must complete the appropriate scholarship application form, which is available at www.shc-medina.org, or by calling 330-722-1900 ext. 100 or ext. 265. Deadline for submitting a completed application is 5 p.m. on March 31, 2017.

SHC membership is required for the H.O.P.E. Scholarship. SHC membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in advocating for individuals with disabilities. The annual dues for an individual membership are $20 and a family membership is $40.
