What the GUARD will do: The Guard's community efforts to combat the illness include training all our personnel on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) response, identifying and preparing Guard facilities for use as possible isolation housing, and compiling state medical supply inventories, according to the statement.

In addition, the Guard can provide such assistance as logistical support, disinfection and cleaning, transportation of medical personnel, call center support and meal deliveries. We work in close coordination with community food distribution centers and community service organizations.

As a precautionary measure, the military arm of the GUARD has also canceled events, exercises and conferences, it noted:

"The Ohio National Guard's first priority is to serve and protect our people and our communities while saving lives," in a statement from Sergeant First Class Eric Hammond and Sergeant Jeff Cain at the Medina Armory of the Ohio Army National Guard.
